Creating lifestyle films for people in love began by happenstance over a decade ago, when a friend was looking for a filmmaker to shoot her wedding and asked if I could capture the day with my vintage 16mm camera. The whole experience was magical and I realized creating legacy films was a gift I loved giving. Fast forward to today and I have shot all across Canada and in the United States, Central America, Europe and beyond, and have created over 100 films on 16mm film.
I’ve been drawn to the medium of film since the beginning. It all started at the age of 15 when I asked my father for my very own 35mm camera. Since that day my film cameras have taken me around the world and allowed me to have some incredible life experiences.
Becoming a professional trained film artist was one of the best decisions I ever made. On one hand, my personal work has won awards and been exhibited internationally for over 20 years. Film has allowed me to meet my husband, develop lifelong friendships, launch a wedding film business called First Kiss Films, and most recently found Your Life, On Film. When I capture life’s big and little moments with my mid-century 16mm motion picture film camera it truly feels as though I am in alignment with one of my life’s purposes.
Want to know more? We live in Ottawa, Canada in a little mid-century house with our two delightful little children, Ridley and Odessa. I have been vegetarian for 30+ years, am deeply drawn to metaphysical studies, and dabble in mixed media art.
I also love adventure and challenges. A few past highlights include spending months in East Africa helping to start a film school, studying Hatha yoga at an ashram in the foothills of the Himalayas, and riding my bicycle 8,326 km across Canada. Lately, adventures have been closer to home exploring the river by my house with my SUP.
Enough about me. Ultimately, it would be my honour to capture Your Life, On Film.
